AI) with effect from 1st to 5th December, 2008 at Murree. The workshop was attended by veterinarians from Government line department of all the four provinces, FATA, FANA, AJK and Veterinarian/Farm Supervisors/Owners from commercial poultry sector. The training workshop was coordinated by the technical staff of National Program for Control and Prevention of Avian Influenza and National Reference Lab for Poultry Diseases, NARC, Islamabad. Dr Andrea M. Miles, a USAID Consultant and specialist on the subject from USA offered this training. The objectives of the training was to train the MASTER TRAINERS in preparation and implementation of bio security plan for small farms, large commercial farms and live bird markets. These master trainers would further train the persons on the subject all over the country. The major subjects covered by the speakers included: 1. Bio security planning Dr Andrea M. Miles US Consultant 2. Strategic control of AI in Pakistan,Role of vaccination and Poultry Production systems in Pakistan. Prof. Dr. M Akram Muneer PD, NPCPAI 3.Three principles of Bio security Dr. M. Ayaz FSC, NPCPAI 4.Bio security practices for sampling And lab work. Dr. Zaheer Ahmad SSO,NRLPD 5.Human health aspect of AI Dr Zulfiqar Ali PHC, NPCPAI 6.Preparedness for pandemic Human influenza . Dr. Arif Zaka NPM, Human Influenza Control Project. These master trainers will serve as implementers of the knowledge they gained through deliberations above. The training concluded with distribution of certificates to participants by Dr Qurban Ali, acting Animal Husbandry Commissioner and vote of thanks by Dr M.
