Guest guest
Dear Sir, Madam, I have just returned from a visit to Tibet and I was shocked when I visited the small zoo in the gardens of the Summer Palace in the middle of Lhasa! The animals were kept in minute concrete and steel bar cages with no outdoor space, in horrific conditions, blazing sunshine, etc. I cannot possibly remain quiet about this type of treatment where, for example, 3 Tibetan mountain dogs are locked up in a small cage with excrement all over the floor (from weeks!) together with wads of hair where they had attacked each other. In the 2 square metre cage next door, a mountain Wolf was locked up with a Great Dane dog! A Tiger faired no better in the next cage and the bears were just turning round in circles because they had completely gone out of their mind, poor animals. The monkeys' residence was a deep concrete hole littered with plastic bottles and other debris that the Chinese visitors obviously had thrown over the fence and 2 lions had a space of perhaps 4 square metres to live in! Is there anything we can do about this or report this to authorities who can actively deal with this, because I do not know where else to go or who else to contact. Many thanks and I sincerely hope to hear from you, Nicolas
