Guest guest
Dear Sharon and John, I'm sorry, but I can't let this one go without comment. I saw a remark posted on this website, it was biased and politically motivated. It is pretty much clear that there is a humanitarian crisis going on in that region and whilst the effort to save the animals of Gaza is commendable, as John clearly mentioned, we should avoid drawing conclusions on who is responsible for the death and suffering that is going on in the absence of concrete information on the ground situation. Having said that, I wish the animal welfare team at Gaza all the very best in their efforts to save creatures who have been caught in this conflict for no fault of theirs. Best wishes and kind regards, On Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 9:27 AM, Sharon St. Joan <sharonsjwrote: > Hello Everyone: > > Here is the link to an article posted on the Best Friends Network, > > ³Help for Gaza animals!² > > http://network.bestfriends.org/international/news/31538.html > > Sharon > > Sharon St. Joan > Editor International Community > Bird and Wildlife Writer > Best Friends Network > Best Friends Animal Society > http://network.bestfriends.org/international > sharonsj <sharonsj%40bestfriends.org> > >
Guest guest
Shub, let me draw a conclusion right off the bat - we are all responsible... anyone over 30, for letting this continue on and on. I think letting a 50 year-old war continue via armament, training, funding, etc. is a bit much to pin blame on any one small side or another. At some point the citizens of the world have to wake up to the fact that the UN Security Council and all the large-powerful- cash & arms-rich governments are not acting in the best interests of the planet or anything living on it - Gaza is just one case in point. Trying to save the animals in the middle of a conflagration, while well intentioned, is futile. We should have prevented what is happening, instead of reacting impotently. But this reasoning always comes around and hits the same wall: why do we let our elected or " spiritual " leaders use our money, resources, and young boys to bomb the crap out of each other? Or worse. Are 21st century human beings that weak in character and resolve that we can't settle our differences without invasions, genocides, blitzkriegs, and mass destructions? If that's so, then trying to help animals is just a distraction from the harder work that needs to be done. So why aren't we doing the hard work?
