Guest guest
SPCA- Expanded reads, the 'Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals'. BSPCA- Expanded reads, the 'Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' http://www.bombayspca.org/ Inside the website claims: " The BSPCA is a charitable organization in existence since 1874. Its purpose is to prevent cruelty to animals and provide help and relief to all animals in Mumbai city ...... know more: " Well, now picture this! In Mumbai (formerly Bombay), a parrot (rose ringed parakeet) campaigns on the eve of 'World Environment Day', holding an oversize placard with strings attached on its beak that reads " SAVE OUR ENVIRONMENT " . This picture is flashed in the media the next day. Some or rather most of the readers would jump with their hearts going all out saying, 'WOW, so Cute'. But a small minority of we the animal people would SCREAM, " who the hell got the bird to do that nasty act ??? " Hang your heads in shame guys this circus was courtesy: the BSPCA. The caption on the photograph in India's leading National Newspaper the Times of India dated: 6th June' 2009 reads: " ANIMAL ACTIVIST: a parrot calls for awareness on environmental issues at the BSPCA in Parel on Friday " . SHOCKED?? Now the BIG QUESTIONS are: Who bells the CAT? What RIGHT, AUTHORITY and BUSINESS does an SPCA have in having done this BIG offense? What signals does this enactment of a circus by an animal protection agency send to the society? How different is this from the Tarrot Card reader down the road or the erring agencies using animals in advertisements and promotions? Was a permission for this show sought from the AWBI? Can the AWBI de recognize organisations for such acts? Is there any punishments for erring AWOs? Will the head of this organisation hang his head in shame and resign for this? I need answers from all sympathisers of BSPCA (if any) or BSPCA itself. Such issues will certainly not be tolerated. You are an animal's voice since they cannot speak our language or help us understand theirs, they are not your property to be used in Campaigns (so what if it is for their own cause). If you cannot get them help, close your shop and eave them at their own mercy. This charitable cause called 'Animal Rights' is a ZERO error game. One mistake and you can tarnish the goodwill of the entire lot of animal people standing on the platform.
