Guest guest
Tiger temple " fights " back allegations of illegal wildlife possesion and animal torture The Tiger temple in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand, has charged Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand founder and director Edwin Wiek and the Thai Post Newspaper with defamation over an article published in the Thai Post in March 2009. In the article Edwin Wiek was quoted saying the tiger temple illegally obtained some wild animals and that the temple was involved in animal torture. The Tiger temple claims their good name and reputation are tarnished by the publication of these remarks. They deny that animals are illegally obtained or that animals are tortured. At the Tiger Temple tigers are being kept in tiny enclosures all day only to be chained up for a few hours to sit and lay down as photo-props for mainly foreign tourists in an open showground. To keep the tigers obedient staff of the tiger temple spray urine in their faces and beat and drag the tigers around. Claims that tigers are drugged to keep them docile have been confiremd by many ex-volunteers at the temple. Accordidng to the temple the tiges wandered in to the temple out of the forests asking for help and were never bought. The temples tiger were confiscated in 2002 by the government but were allowed to stay on their grounds as there were no cages available at the government rescue centers to take them in.
