Guest guest
Finally on 10th September` 2008 our crew managed to catch up with the Rhino that strayed from Manas NP and has covered about 200kms. It was dusk by the time we reached Tamulpur about 75kms from Guwahati city, and I could not film him because he was deep down in the paddy fields, so to distract him going up close with my cam was just out of question. You can watch the full video report below: http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/videopod/default.aspx?id=38346 Although I could not manage shots of the Rhino we got pictures of previous day clicked by Mr. Rituraj a lens man and they have been used in the story. It was sad to hear from the local villagers and the forest personnel on duty that the rhino has lost a lot of wieght as it has been traveling a lot and may not have had the best of diet. How soon it is rescued back to from where it came is something we have to wait and watch. Our rescue teams and those involved in such scientific wildlife conservation certainly have to work much much more on their future strategies to avoid such disasters.
