I was calling early in the morning yesterday to treat one of my neighbour's dog that poisoned but can not help. I even join with interactive dialogue in Bali TV (as participant) in which pak Alit (Head of Provincial Livestock Husbandary Agency) as a speaker. On that event he mentioned that elimination will continue to achieve 70% vaccination coverage. One thing that disturb my mind is request of culling the stray dogs come from people it self. Many people called and ask the government to cull more dogs because they afraid with dogs bite. I asked the possibility of giving vaccine to all area in Bali but he refused because of high cost, not enough vaccine and human resources. He mentioned as well that he got many letters from outside. I predicted that the letters that sent to the Governor displaced to him but he never responds (maybe never read it). I try called to Governor office many times to ask the Governor agenda for meeting and always answer that we have to wait. I will keep asking them. One of our staff happens to live there and was leaving for work when he noticed the government van. There was no advance notice made to this village at all, and most people had left for work already. The first two dogs in the photo, the brown and white dogs were owned dogs, previously vaccinated for rabies, but had lost their collars and tags. We also had sterilized many dogs in this village already. No rabies reported in this area ever. Many more dogs were killed then this today. Our staff managed to get 8 dogs inside homes, and save one puppy, however we were too late for the others.
