Guest guest
I have no knowledge on the topic , except seeing it in person when in high school (funny that, the memories that stick and the ones that vanish) and all I can remember is thinking that I would not want anyone shaving my armpits and back with an electric razor. U always seem to come up with these great topics! I started thinking today about how much of my current winter wardrobe is wool almost all of it except for a few pairs of Patagonia synthetic underwear's that I live in during the winter months. And if I look out onto the village street outside my office window, I can see it¹s the same for most folks here, sans anything from Patagonia. Nepali wool is not very fashionable world-wide and the quality of the designs is not something u would see in Vogue, but it keeps EVERYONE here very warm in a heatless and gasless society. Why point this out? Well, my gut says that ANY use of animals for human gain is cruel in spirit, but a large amount of such use is tolerated and somewhat regulated as it¹s part of our evolutionary history to use whatever resources that our opposable thumbs can grab in the world. Then of course the question becomes ³as advanced human beings, shouldn¹t we be able to make synthetics so that animal skins, fur, and fibers are no longer needed?² And then we know where THAT line of thought goes: from regulating the treatment of silkworms to water buffalo, we start debating. Meanwhile, school kid¹s brains are being splattered on schoolroom walls in Gaza.
