One of the pictures shows an elephant in the Yangon zoo chained.

" The Yangon zoo is incredibly sad. What was not mentioned is that most of

the animals depend on the poor visitors to buy food from convenient vendors

to feed the animals in acts of mercy. This “allows” the urban poor to make

Buddhist merit by demonstrating compassion to the hungry animals, and allows

the government to provide less than is required for the animals’ basic
