(IN) man belonging to a group of dealers in animals apprehended

Today after a week long vigil,regularly for almost a week ,from 2am till morn,

volunteers of People For Animals ,Guwahati ,Assam ,volunteers ,were  able to

apprehend  a person in an act of stealing swans from, a temple pond belonging to

a shakti temple ,known as the Ugatara temple of Uzan Bazar area. The swans

brought from various parts of the norhteast and set free in the temple with the

desire of finding all hopes fulfilled.There were almost hundred fifty swans, but

gradually their number decreases,and very sadly we find that they are regularly

sloten by some miscreants and sold off in the market.After a long wait Rajiv

Islam was caught with three swans and later handed over to the police anmd an

FIR logded .The birds were handed over to the organization that were shifted to

the shelter home immediately under the guidance of the chairperson ,Sangeeta

Goswami.This particular group is involved in the international racket of

transporting animal parts, live animals across the border and many more.This was

indeed a successful drive by PFA Guwahati, Assam volunteers at the initiative of

their chairperson.
