A division bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice Ajit Singh sought the affidavits while hearing a PIL filed by an NGO - Kids for Tiger - Regional Director and wildlife activist Navneet Maheshwari. In the PIL filed three years back, Maheshwari said the tiger population in Madhya Pradesh was 710 in 2004, which has dipped to between 210-395 in 2007-08, quoting surveys.
