The move came after the Supreme Court slapped a notice on the State government following a complaint by wildlife activists including PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) on ill treatment of the animals at the Lady Hydari Park, the only zoo of the State. " We are facing difficulties in taking proper care of the animals, especially monkeys and bears. We are ready to hand over these animals to any organisations which can look after them, " Principle Chief Conservator of Forests VK Nautiyal said. He admitted that shortage of funds and manpower were the reasons for the department failing to provide the " best facilities and care " to the inmates. -- United against elephant polo http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
