Guest guest
Link: http://www.asomiyapratidin.co.in/epaper/default.aspx Please visit the above news link to a local Assamese daily front page to see the picture of the Radio collared translocated Rhino from Kaziranga that was released in Manas National Park sometime back and is now invading human territory. The Rhino has strayed almost upto 150 kms and is one of the most brilliant examples of a Wildlife project going horribly wrong. It is however noteworthy that the local people who are already facing the wrath of floods in the state have been acting in a matured manner allowing the animal space in their backyards and putting up a compassionate defense by not hurting the animal in any way. This comes at a time when human-elephant/ leopard conflicts and rhino poaching are soaring in Assam.
