Guest guest
*Kind attention:* ** Mr. Hiren Dand hirendand Ph: +91 98210 234530 Dear Mr Dand, This is with reference to your advertisement * " Enough is Enough " * which was featured on an exclusive full page (both side) on the esteemed magazine 'India Today' dated: September 15, 2008. It may be noted that you/ your advertising agency developed the advertisement campaign on an 'OWL'. *The campaign starts with the following hindi phrase:* * " ek ullu kaafi hai,* *saare chaman ki barbaadi ke liye.* *jahan har shaakh par ullu baithe ho,* *anjaame gulistaan kya hoga " .* *English translation of above lines is as follows:* * " One Owl is enough,* *to destroy the whole environment.* *where in every branch an owl is perched,* *imagine what impact it could have on the entire society. " * ** One can well understand that you as a passionate Indian citizen thought of a very good idea to have an advertisement to generate mass awareness but I must say that you have possible ignored the fact that like every Indian citizen the Owl is also very much a species which has been accorded full protection lawfully just like you me and millions of others. Even the Constitution of India has made it a duty upon us to see that our environment and animals are protected. Therefore in the interest of the compassionate Indian society with due respect to your intentions in condemning terrorism and other anti-social forces, I would like to make an appeal that you kindly withdraw the 'OWL' factor from the advertisement. It may have adverse effects to the existing animal welfare campaigns which are in swing at the moment. It is stupid and mindless people in our society who have in the past been using animals to rebuke people. It is we who are to take the blame entirely not the animals. Just like you have the anti-social and terrorist agencies involved in mass killings, massacres etc. Animals and birds in india are also no better, as they face equal or even worse treatment in forms of poaching, torture, use/ abuse, killing and all sorts of inhumane treatment from the TERRORIST of a different kind. If we need to end BLOODSHED we need to end it for ALL. In the next page of your advertisement you have quoted Swami Vevekananda`s quote: * " Arise, awake, sleep not till* *your goal is achieved " .* We all should join hands to achieve one big goal, and that is strive to make our society COMPASSIONATE in all forms. Let us not forget what our Father of the Nation Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) has said: * " The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
