Guest guest
Good one Marianne! I guess that¹s another thread we should get to at some point no? I despised the fact that dogs and cats were incarcerated by madmen and madwomen from the time I was a little kid, after witnessing pet abuse first hand and being too small to do anything about it. Not until I was 20, in the army, and pretty lonely, did I consider going to the local shelter and adopting a year-old ³difficult case² border collie. It was more for me then him, I¹m sure. I could not relate to any human beings at the time, and Zack helped me get thru a rough time. He was nothing but wonderful while we lived together in a small cabin in the mountains outside Colorado Springs. But I was shipped out 2 years later, and had to leave him with some friends whom I thought were animal lovers. Turns out they just threw Zack out into the fenced front-yard facing an elementary school, where he was teased by some mean kids and finally bit one. That was an immediate death sentence. But all the while I was overseas, I would get letters like ³All is fine, no worries.² I came back to find out he had been lethally injected months beforehand. I vowed never to have another pet again, and considered that people were inherently evil. Thirty years later I ran into a puppy and felt so connected I had to take him home. For the past 2 years we have been inseparable. I have a home office, so Krytpo works with me. If I go out, so does he. We only go to shops or restaurants that allow him in as well. He has been professionally trained (as well as I). We have only been separated for about 15 days during his captivity (or am I his captive I wonder). He eats something that looks and smells like Dhal Bhat that came out of a cow¹s stomach. He gets commercial vitamins and sees a vet on a schedule. He looks and acts wonderful and even has a facebook page. So I am no longer conflicted as I was in my 20¹s. I am blessed with his presence, and I think he is having a great time, as I am.
