Guest guest
Earlier this month the Nandankanan zoo became a WAZA member. And days later they are back to business. Poaching inside Nandankanan and other Indian zoos is not a rare phenomenon, in fact it is very much common. " Two rare macaws were stolen from their enclosures in the newly set up aviary park inside the zoo two days ago, apparently in connivance with those who are familiar with the place, " Nandankanan Zoo Director, Sudarshan Panda told PTI today. The full-grown birds were brought from Malayasia zoo in 1998 in exchange of two white tigers, zoo sources said. Since it is impossible for outsiders to enter the enclosure and break the cage, involvement of some insiders, like temporary employees, is suspected, Panda said. Zoo authorities have already lodged a complaint with the police and investigation was on, he added. -- http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
