Guest guest Posted February 26, 2009 Report Share Posted February 26, 2009 Dear all, With reference to my previous message on Elephant Family and Elephant Polo, some people seem to have formed the impression that the upcoming meeting on Saturday is between me and Elephant Family. This impression needs to be corrected. The meeting is not a meeting between me and Elephant Family, it will be a meeting between two friends with divergent beliefs. The person I will be meeting has been in touch with Elephant Family and told me the organisation wanted to promote efforts for better understanding between opponents of elephant polo and the Help In Suffering/Elephant Family coalition in India. As I wrote in my previous message, the meeting will not be an exercise in conversion of viewpoints on elephant polo or elephant football or elephant tug of war or any other circus like event, it will rather be an exchange of information and views on some other issues concerning elephants like culling, habitat destruction, corridors etc. There is absolutely nothing to get alarmed. Please also keep informed that several groups and individuals working in India with elephants are strategic partners of Elephant Family but do not support Elephant Polo. Examples are Wildlife Protection Society of India, Wildlife Trust of India and Mr Kisor Chaudhuri. And for those who need a reassurance on my personal stance on elephant polo, I categorically state again that I was, I am and I will remain opposed to elephant polo, elephant football and the participation of elephants in circus like events. I believe it is the appalling quality of my English that leaves room for doubt amongst some AAPN members regarding my stance on elephant polo.
