Centre enhances security in MP forests

Bhopal, July 5 (PTI) The Centre has accorded approval to the Madhya Pradesh

Forest department''s Rs 2 crore proposal for satellite and camera surveillance

of around 95,000 sq km forest area and wildlife in the state, a top officer

said. The State Forest department had submitted the proposal for surveillance

for the forests and wildlife under Central Sponsored Scheme: Integrated Forest

Protection Scheme, to the Ministry of Environment and Forests some time back,

Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Protection and IT) Anil Oberoi

told PTI. " Under the project, the Forest Department will make use of satellite,

besides wireless broadband system fitted with cameras to do surveillance, " he

said.

Oberoi said that with the help of satellite, the forest area will be monitored,

while a wireless broadband system connected with cameras will keep a track on

the personnel patrolling the jungles. He said that Surveillance Centre having 16

screens will be set up at Satpura Bhavan here and will monitor functioning of

400 forest protection chowkies in super sensitives forest areas of Madhya

Pradesh.
