Guest guest
August 4, 2008 USA Today The Biggest Chinese Restaurant in the World Sundance Channel, 9 p.m. ET, Monday night. Some Olympic records may fall in China this weekend, but at least one Guinness record will likely remain intact: The biggest Chinese restaurant in the world, Hunan province's massive West Lake restaurant, serves 5,000 meals each day prepared by 300 chefs working in five steamy kitchens. This BBC documentary, which airs in four 30-minute segments on Mondays beginning tonight, gives a fascinating glimpse of the inner workings of the massive enterprise. Its formidable owner, the exacting Mrs. Qin, motivates her army of servers with rousing Communist Party anthems ( " Solidarity equals strength, strength is iron, strength is steel, " they all sing) and aims to spread the West Lake brand worldwide. A note of caution: Some delicacies are not for the squeamish. Chunks of snake try to slither off one plate, while the dish Fish Fried Alive must have its mouth still moving to be considered worthy of serving. http://www.usatoday.com/money/companies/management/2008-08-03-first-monday_N.htm\ ?csp=34 --
