On WWF

Hi,

Thanks to everybody who responded on the WWF issue. I am just a bit

caught up in writing some reports in the office and will respond as soon as

I am able. And I apologise to Jigme if my comments have appeared as

insulting, for that was not my intention. I personally feel very insulted

when people say nasty things about WWF(and always did because they formally

initiated me in the animal movement in India and I will forever be grateful

to them for this), specially so, because I work at TRAFFIC which is

affiliated to WWF(Please note though that TRAFFIC is an autonomous body

headquartered in Cambridge whereas WWF is based in Switzerland) and IUCN.

The issues surrounding WWF are all relevant, important and valid. My take

is that they are applicable for most other animal organisations as well, and

the critics of WWF very often forget this. Surely pornography is as

important an issue as elephant polo?

I will write in greater depth but I must emphasise that my comments are

being made in a personal capacity and not as a representative of WWF or

TRAFFIC. We certainly should talk about these issues and I am not running

away from the debate.
