Guest guest
URGENT - help required at Indian animal sanctuary. The ARK animal sanctuary in Kerala, Southern India is in urgent need of a temporary or preferably permanent manager due to the ill-health of the proprietor, Avis Lyons. Her daughter Odette is there at present helping but she has a sanctuary in France she will have to return to. Is there anyone who could help in this situation? It appears that the long term prospect for ARK is not good if they cannot get a new manager - the possibility is very real that the sanctuary might have to close. If that is the case then the animals, mainly dogs and cats, will need to be rehomed in the very near future. If there is anyone who can offer help please call the following: Centre: : (from Uk) 0091 (0) 471 2796202 House: 0091 471 2483180 Contacts: website www.animalrescuekerala.org email info Sincerely Audrey Matania Funds collection helper, London
Guest guest
I would like to thank Audrey for drawing the attention of ARKs plight to aapn. However I have, up until now, been approaching individual charities who may be able to help and did not intend to put the details on aapn yet. As the situation has now been drawn to your attention please find below the details of what exactly we are looking for for ARKs future. We are not looking for a manager, but an organisation who will take over the centre completely. My mother set up in Kerala over 8 years ago and has fought long and hard for the animals of Kerala. she really does not want all she has achieved there to be for nothing. Thank you Due to serious illness, Animal Rescue Kerala, ARK, is looking for a group to take over the running and financing of its centre based near Kovalam, Kerala. Animal Rescue Kerala was set up over 8 years ago to implement the Animal birth control/ anti rabies programme (ABC/AR) , however it also have a hospital which treats any sick or injured stray dog as well as offering a reduced rate/free service to pet animals (dependant of owner's salary). The centre sits in a total of approximately one and a half acres, all in a walled compound. Half of the area is developed with a purpose-built hospital, education centre, puppy house, cattery and kenneling. Approximately 200 animals- dogs, cats, puppies and kittens can be housed at any one time. The undeveloped land, also walled, is currently used as an area for dogs to run and play. This area would lend itself to be further developed perhaps for staff accommodation or further kenneling. My mother, Avis Lyons, who currently runs and finances ARK, is suffering from cancer and as such is looking for a like-minded organization to take over the running of the centre (this needs to be done by the end of 2009). As there is currently no other active group in the area the service ARK offers is desperately needed. The centre is currently on a 30 year lease from my mother to Animal Rescue Kerala charitable trust, this lease will be passed over, free of charge, to the new management with provisions by the family that the lease will be renewed after this 30 year period, however the centre must continue to be run as it was set up to do (to continue the ABC/AR programme and to treat the animals with compassion and empathy) The centre currently costs 1000 UK pounds to run each month (approx 80,000 rupees); this funding will need to be met by the new management. Please see our website www..animalrescuekerala.org For further details please email Odette on odette --- On Tue, 11/8/09, audsmwl <audsmwl wrote: audsmwl <audsmwl ARK sanctuary Kerala aapn Tuesday, 11 August, 2009, 4:41 PM URGENT - help required at Indian animal sanctuary.
