Excerpted from People4ChineseAnimals:

After long hours of negotiations between the Changshou Police, cat lovers and

the cat-nappers, donations of 15000 RMB from the Authority of Bixi County in

Changshou finally helped the rescuers buy 800 cats from the cat-nappers.

Several brave lost cat owners were lying down on front of the truck to stop the

cat-nappers from driving the trucks away. They said: “If you drive the cats

away, then roll over our bodies first!†That was a bloody hard protest! The

rescuers didn't eat anything but water for the whole day and night.

Another 1000 cats were rescued earlier on the evening of August 5th at Jiaxing

in Zhejiang Province, also not far from Shanghai. All together 2000 cats got

rescued from 2 cat-napper trucks which were on the way down to the South,

Guangdong Province restaurants.

Unfortunately, there was another truck also with around 1000 cats that has been

released at Jiaxing by the local police and managed to get away before the cat

rescuers arrived.

We urgently call on the Animal Protection Law to protect our poor four legged

friends in China!

Many thanks and great appreciations to:

Hi all,

I am sending below my latest communication with the groups in China. If anyone

wants to see any improvements for animals in China, the only way to do it is

helping the animal people there who are struggling, indeed going thru hell to

help save animals.

The idea of a boycott is simply a way of making someone feel good that he/she

did something. But in fact, it is not only worthless because only AR people will

adhere to it, and our number will make absolutely no difference. Just take a

trip to Wal-Mart and the answer is there.

Apart from that, going around trying " to sell " this boycott will bring about

anger and even hatred which in exchange will prevent good people from doing

something that is worthwhile. I know what I am talking about because I am being

a victim of harassment by a hate person who is now simply harassing me because I

didn't join her hate promenade.

So, if anyone truly wish to help animals in China, he/she must pull up the socks

and help in the old fashioned way: Hands on. There is no easy way.

Hi Rosa,

Please see the more photos about August 6th cat rescues in Changshou near

Shanghai. Those photos were taken during the long day and night waiting for the

release of the caged cats, heartbroken! The lost cat owners were not lying down

on front of the truck, they were lying down UNDER the truck to stop the

cat-nappers from driving the trucks away! they were more brave than I thought.

Thanks for your support!

August 6 2009

Among 2000 Cats Have Been Rescued Near Shanghai

From the early morning of August the 5th, to the evening of the 6th, after more

than 30 hours of the protest, among 2000 cats got rescued near Shanghai.

The video (link below) shows the animal protection volunteers (all from

Shanghai, Suzhou and Zhejiang Province) transferring the cat cages (among 800

cats) down from the truck which was pursued and stopped successfully by animal

lovers at the highway of Changshou City.

Protests for these will do NOTHING to help them in China. The China gov't

doesn't care since it will not affect their sales, and the protest news aren't

published in China, so no one knows. Even if they did, it wouldn't help

spay/neuter/feed 2000 cats.

Among other people I work with, Joy is the newest person I've been dealing with.

She is sending lots of her own money to help rescue the animals and I will be

helping set up a Paypal account for people to donate to them directly. Until

then, anyone can send money to Joy (have to ask her how) or donate thru my

Paypal account and as usual - I'll transfer it to them via Western Union. There

is a donate button on this page: www.antifursociety.org

Here's a page of some of the people I've been helping these last 2 years, and

will be developing a couple of other groups as soon as I have a chance.

My frustration is being directed not to people like you, Susan, but to those who

unwittingly cause more harm than good. I am more grateful for your (and others)

help to Chinese animals then you can begin to imagine because the suffering of

animals in China pierces my heart in a way that many may not understand.

It is fine for anyone to boycott China merchandize. I do whenever possible, but

I am not taking this venue into consideration. Boycott is like having the

desert instead of the meal--we can do without it. What is upsetting about it is

that the boycott idea make a LOT of people think they are doing enough, and just

lay back and wait for miracles to happen. Well, miracles don't happen because

everything in this world cost a lot of money including taking care of 2000

desperate little furries.

Boycotting Escada and similars are a whole different story. They are luxury

items that many people decided to give up specially because of the global

economy which THANK GOD is helping our anti-fur activism and other types of

issues. But we have no illusions that it is all due to our activism. We, AR,

are a different (small) class and the rest of the world don't care about what we

think. It has all to do with money.

Chinese animal groups need our help--moral and financial. Changes are happening

very rapidly in China (THANK GOD), and the AR people financial ability is not

being able to keep up with it. Anyone who truly wish to help for change, this

is the time!

Fuzzies,

Rosa
