According to a latest report of the Ministry of Environment and Forests

(MOEF), Government of India, out of 173 zoos in the country, only 70 zoos

have submitted their Master Plans for approval of Central Zoo Authority

(CZA) so far.

The MOEF has asked the States/Union Territories to submit Master Plans for

the remaining zoos at the earliest.

MOEF says, " No developmental work can be taken up in the zoos till the

approval of the Master Plans from the Central Zoo Authority of India (CZA). "
