Manoj, that is indeed grand news and the culmination of a lot of hard work

by Nepali and International activists. Many congrats to all those involved,

especially the activists within AnimalNepal.org, Animal Welfare Network

Nepal, and of course Roots and Shoots Nepal. This is a prime(ate) example of

what can be done with patience and perseverance, and with a little help from

our friends abroad. Cheers,

Jigs

Ps, this puts the Nepali Monkeys on Mars program on hold then, as there may

be no need to send them there for safety now. But we will keep the booster

rockets on ice, just in case.

> Dear All,

> Here is a great news for all of you. Minister for Forest and soil

> conservation in Nepal decided to halt the breeding of Rhesus Monkeys in Nepal.

> The Ministry is soon sending a letter to the Breeders asking them to release

> all the monkeys caught in the wild as they cannot legally send the monkeys to

> the US.

>

> This brings other concerns regarding rehabilitation and the future of the

> monkeys to be released and we are following up with it.

> This is probably the best decision taken lately at this level, with this

> promptness. This shows how easy things can get if the person in the power is a

> little bit responsible.

>

> Our fight for the fate of Nepalese Rhesus Monkeys has received a great height

> and partial victory with this decision of the Ministry.

> Hats off to our Forest Minister Mr. Dipak Bohara.

>

> Cheers!
