Guest guest
Dear all, Please find a letter from the President of the 'Cycle Polo federation of India' Shri. Raghuvendra Singh Dundlod. I am very much thankful to Shri. Dundlod for sending a positive response to my request (see letters below). Shri. Dundlod is someone who has played and understands the abuses and the wrongs which an animal is made to go through during the training or playing the game of 'Polo' and other form of human pushed activitiy, and so he is already been taking measures to STOP such attrocities by spreading awareness. This is something which was unknown to most of us. I am certainly hopeful that by joining hands with Shri. Dundlod, we the animal people can manage to bring an end to the attrocities being meted out to the 'Polo' playing animals and who knows if someday the sport/ game of 'Cycle Polo' that Shri. Dundlod is promoting and organising in a big way can replace animals with cycles totally as a form of 'alternative animal polo'. Presently, I am already working out plans of how best we can help the retired or abandoned indegenous polo playing animals (specially the Manipui Pony, as I have personally seen their pathetic conditions). It would be very important if we can have ideas thrown how the association of we the animal people with Shri. Dundlod can team up to benefit the welfare of these polo playing animals. Thanks, Azam Siddiqui ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Dundlod <dundlod Aug 27, 2009 12:55 PM Re: Say 'YES' to Cycle Polo azam24x7 <azam24x7 Cc: yashwant11 Shri Azam Siddiqui, It was wonderful to get your email and to see your interest in promoting the sport of Cycle Polo. I have been a player of horse polo but later gave it up and moved to conduct horse safaris in Rajasthan. My interest has been in promoting the INDIGENOUS BREEDS of horses in India, particularly the MARWARI AND KATHIAWARI. I created the Indigenous Horse Society of India and am the Secretary General of the same. Through this we want to highlight the breed and also educate the farmers in taking better care of the horses and STOP the use of harsh bits in their mouths and curtail the use of whips in training and shows. I would be greatful if your board could help us in this as well. You may please visit our website <horseindian.com> and see our activities. Cycle Polo is getting very popular world over and we are in the process of hosting a commomwealth Cycle Polo Championship in Chattisgarh in December 2009. Nationals are held all over th country and we may even be coming to CHENNAI for a National championship this year. If you have any ideas to use Cycle Polo to help your cause, we shall be glad to assist. If I am not wrong, is Gen. Kharab your chairman? He is known to me due to my involvement with horses. If he is there, please convey my regards to him. regards Raghuvendra Singh Dundlod. President Cycle Polo Federation of India. Secretary General Indigenous Horse Society of India. Please accept my heartiest congratulations to you all for promoting 'Polo without Cruelty'. As you may know that most of the 'POLO' that is played worldwide and promoted on a war footing by the multi national giants uses and abuses animals. Like the Horse and also the Elephant. Please see this website: http://www.stopelephantpolo.com We have been fighting hard a battle to end the cruel and abnormal practice of engaging voiceless animals and forcing them into a game of POLO for human entertainment. On behalf of the animal people I would like to offer you a humble proposal as to how best can we help you in promoting this event. One BIG and significant positive thing about 'CYCLE POLO " is that it is a challenging sport and has all the essential ingredients of becoming the POLO of REAL MEN. Please do let me know if you can extend your co-operation to our movement where we want to END and REPLACE animals in the game of POLO with CYCLES. Guest guest
Hi Azam, As absurd as this sounds, I am game for promoting this event if it can counter sports like elephant polo. All events survive on viewership/ popularity. More the viewership/ popularity, more frequently is the event organized. Classic example closer home (Eurasia) is the IPL 20-20 cricket tournament. It was packaged in a chic format and won audiences. If cycle polo can generate that sort of an interest nothing like it. I know we are comparing apples to melons (literally) because the interest a one ton elephant generates amongst people is going to be hard to match. But whats the harm in trying alternate routes....While our colleagues and friends like Shubo are doing a fantastic job (I just read the commendable work that he has done) we never know where we will find the booster to over take the elephant-polo-groups. So lets try this path too Azam...Lemme know how I can help... And cycling will only further help my fitness regime...so why not!! Thanks, Pablo.
