Guest guest
BASANTI OF SHOLEY TO HELP DHANNO'S OF KALYAN... ACTRESS & BJP MEMBER HEMA MALINI URGES KALYAN RTO TO STOP CRUELTIES ON PONIES... In an exclusive letter written by Ms. Hema Malini to Kalyan RTO on request of PAWS who rescued a pony with injured leg to stop giving further licenses to ponies. On 31st August, Plant & Animals Welfare Society - Dombivli received a call from Health department of Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) about a pony that was lying unattended with a broken leg & bleeding profusely. PAWS team immediately sent its animal ambulance and rescued the pony and hospitalized her at Bombay SPCA Animal Hospital. The animal was in great distress & the leg is likely to be amputated. After this incident, Ex. Rajya Sabha member & noted Actress Hema Malini wrote a protest letter informing them that this case shows that Tonga owners can actually inflict cruelty to their own animals. Therefore, on behalf of all the animal lovers she has requested the ACP & RTO to stop renewing the licenses of Tonga or pony owners without checking the health of the animal & its ability in pulling the cart. She also mentioned that, she has already asked her huge number of fan followers to stop using horse carts. Therefore, it becomes imperative for TRO to stop supporting this act with immediate effect. " There is no animal hospital within the boundaries of KDMC to provide help to such animals, we have engaged many volunteers to ensure safety of cattle, lift & travel almost 80kms for hospitalization by spending Rs.1000 per animal " said Nilesh Bhanage - Founder of PAWS. Another trustee Ms. Mansi Bhanage added " There has to be strict monitoring on such abuse by local Prevention of Cruelty Committee appointed by district collector. The offenders must be penalized & jailed for their actions " . Hema Malini has shown true love for animals in her most famous role as Basanti in Sholay. The bond between man & animal is portrayed in the relation of Basanti (tonga driver) & Dhanno (the horse) For More Details on press note, Call below Numbers: Mr. Nilesh - 9920777536 Ms. Manasi - 9820161114
