Bravo to the great Director! The Great Animal Husbandry director of Kerala R.Vijayakumar along with his followers of officials inaugurated the first international pet show in Kerala. Mr.Vijayakumar in his speech said that the North Indian lobby of the so called 'animal wefare' groups like the PETA of scantily clad film stars,Maneka Gandhi and the AWBI believe that the Animal Husbandry Department of Kerala cannot implement its own projects.Mr. C.Divakaran,Minister inaugurated the show. There are more than 150 stalls with exotic caged birds like Cockatoos, Mackaws.Emus, exotic parrots etc and a number of small animals. Two members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly have bravely defied the direction from the AWBI and exhibited their own exotic and pedigreed dogs and cats. The admission ticket charge for the pet show is Rs.10 for children and Rs.20 for elders. The Kerala Animal Husbandry Department is running the show. All the District Animal Husbandry Officers are in Thrissur to make the show a success in spite of the letter written by Maneka Gandhi and the directions issued by the Secretary,AWBI to obey the order of the High Court and the provisions in the Performing Animal Rules and Registration Rules. " The letter written by the Secretary,AWBI at the last minute does not reflect the decision of the AWBI members as a whole.Conducting pet shows by Animal Husbandry Department does not come under Performing Animals Registration Rules.Certain people are misinterpreting the Court judgment and the Rules " ,said Mr.Rajan.District Animal Husbandry Officer Thrissur. The pet show and sales as per the Animal Husbandry sources may bring in 10-15 lakh rupes. The show ends on 7th of this month.
Guest guest
Jayasimha, you are a qualified practicing advocate, a Master Trainer of the AWBI and an employee with PETA-India. Would you throw some light as to why the following important 'chapters' in animal welfare in India are ignored by many states of mainland India. 1. Letters from senior animal people such as Mrs. Gandhi or PETA-India Chief. 2, Letters or directives issues by the AWBI asking agencies, state governments and individuals on account of similar so called violations of animal laws. Please take your time in replying because in the interest of advocating animal rights in India like me there may be hundreds of animal people who perhaps are wondering as to why we are 'MEOWING' around when we are supposed to be 'ROARING' over animal rights violations. An example such as the one in Thrissur can serve as a model to the rest of India's animal husbandries or those in such trades. Also Jaya, many a times we keep our fingers crossed after acquiring letters from AWBI and leading AWOs when it comes to seeking a block to any such activity. Eventually when such letters many a times are thrown in the trash bins and the event goes ahead. Letters requesting/asking/ appealing to authorities in India: Do they actually work or is it time to move ahead and just concentrate on 'Court Orders' and 'Directives' Yes, such letters may work in places such as Assam and Northeast India, I myself have managed to bag many victories merely out of timely letters from Mrs. Gandhi, PETA-India and others. But back there in Mainland India, where you have such heinious animal rights exploitations, can letters of appeal work?? 'Venkita Chalam' certainly must be wondering that instead of going to the animal people and the AWBI would it have been easier to get a posive result by hiring an 'ADVOCATE' Regards, Azam On 9/6/09, N.G.Jayasimha <jayasimhang wrote: > > > > > _____ > > venkita chalam [anapremi] > Sunday, September 06, 2009 5:03 AM > anuradhas; jayasimhang > Fwd: The Great pet show in Thrissur starts despite letter from AWBI > > > > Can one of you send it to aapn from your mail. aapn rejected my mail. > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > venkita chalam <anapremi > Sat, Sep 5, 2009 at 5:35 PM > The Great pet show in Thrissur starts despite letter from AWBI > gandhim > > > > Thrissur, > > > > Nothing happened. The letter from PETA,Maneka Gandhi and the Secretary,AWBI > all were thrown in to the waste basket by the Animal Husbandry director > Mr,Vijayakumar. > > > > Bravo to the great Director! > > > > The Great Animal Husbandry director of Kerala R.Vijayakumar along with his > followers of officials inaugurated the first international pet show in > Kerala. > > > > Mr.Vijayakumar in his speech said that the North Indian lobby of the so > called 'animal wefare' groups like the PETA of scantily clad film > stars,Maneka Gandhi and the AWBI believe that the Animal Husbandry > Department of Kerala cannot implement its own projects.Mr. > C.Divakaran,Minister inaugurated the show. There are more than 150 stalls > with exotic caged birds like Cockatoos, Mackaws.Emus, exotic parrots etc and > a number of small animals. > > > > Two members of the Kerala Legislative Assembly have bravely defied the > direction from the AWBI and exhibited their own exotic and pedigreed dogs > and cats. > > > > The admission ticket charge for the pet show is Rs.10 for children and Rs.20 > for elders. > > > > The Kerala Animal Husbandry Department is running the show.
