Poachers killed a GREEN GUARD

Dear Friends,

 

We have just lost another GREEN GUARD at Palpur Kuno WLS last morning, shot

dead by a point blank firing from dreaded Monghiya poachers.

 

As reports trickle from the field, the forest guard, Mr Ram Kumar Adivasi,

aged 40 was brutally killed by the notorious poaching gang of Monghiya

tribesmen, operating in the area of Palpur Kuno wildlife sanctuary in the

heartland of Chambal region in western Madhya Pradesh.

 

On early morning Yesterday (September 30) Mr. Ram kumar Adivasi woke up

from sleep hearing Gun Shots close to his camp site of Tiktoli Gate (an

entry point of Palpur Kuno WLS) at about 5.30 a.m. Ever alert on his duty,

he sprang to his feet and took two other forest watchers to rush to the

source of gun shots on his motor bike. They reached to a spot not too far

from the camp to discover a gang of few armed Monghiyas out on a poaching

spree. Without caring of the consequences and being oblivious of his unarmed

position, he challenged them upfront! He never knew the gang strength. While

he closed in on them and probably shouted, he was quickly encircled by a

larger gang, who till then hiding behind the bushes. He warned them of dire

consequence by uttering that he could identify some of them in gang. That

spelled doom on him. While his men were beaten up mercilessly and later fled

the scene, Mr. Adivasi was not let off instead one of the gang members

pulled the trigger at a point blank range on his chest right through. He

died instantly and lay off in a pool of blood. It was around the Sun Rise

time (local) another Green Guard fell martyr to the Monghiya menace of M.P.

 

Palpur Kuno is the supposed and proposed land for reintroduction of Asiatic

Lions from Gujarat. It is high time that the Authorities equip the forest

guards here with proper arms and infrastructure to tackle the Monghiya

menace. This has been an open field for poachers for quite a few decades

after Independence. In 2007, Late Mr. Ram Dayal Srivas, a forest guard from

Palpur Kuno WLS was killed brutally, even in a more cowardly manner by

Monghiyas while he was asleep at his camp. He was posthumously conferred

with the GREEN GUARD AWARD by THE JUNGLEES in 2008.

 

Let us all prey for QUICK nabbing of the culprits of Late Mr. Ram Kumar

Adivasi, so that his Brave Soul May Rest in Peace.
