The fall in the tiger population was attributed to the killing of their preys for human consumption and trading as well as to the use of tiger bones and its other body parts for producing traditional medicines, a Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) report said. Myanmar's wildlife police and forest rangers have planned to step up combating illegal wildlife trade in the reserve area and special training programmes have been introduced jointly by the Myanmar's forest ministry and the WCS. The authorities have also called for creating a balance between the local people's needs and the wildlife. Two kinds of tiger, namely, Bengal and Indochina tigers are found in mangrove plantations, grass fields, icy regions, pine forests and tropical evergreen forests in Myanmar. Experts say that the country was estimated to have over 3,000 Bengal and Indochina tigers in 1980, the second in Asia after India. -- Thank you for your compassion !
