Guest guest
Dear all, I was overjoyed this evening when I opened a packet from Smt. Maneka Gandhi that contained documents which I just could not believe. Madam 'G' has pulled out yet another victory for us, and this time not just for animals but for society as a whole by getting the ‘Catapult’ BANNED. The ‘Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Government of India’ vide a circular No: KVIC/ MKT/ EXH/ Circular/ 2009-10, dated 15th September, 2009 states: “... purchase, sales and display of Catapults should be put to COMPLETE BAN, WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, as it does not correspond to the motto and objectives of KVIC”. (Please see attached copies for full text and more documents in this regard). This would certainly not have been possible without the magic of Smt. Gandhi. As I said that the ‘Catapult’ (Slingshot) in India is not just being used as a weapon of mass destruction for animals but there have been many reported instances where the militants and anti socials have used it to target soldiers of the Indian army and Police personnel. Therefore this BAN will be hailed by different cross sections of the society. When I had initially raised objections to the sale/ display of the same at the exhibition, I was laughed at by the NGO from Nagaland who said, " how can you ask us to stop this when we have been going around unobjected in the whole of India? " Well, at least now they will not argue anymore. It is up to all of us how best we can use this BAN order in our respective regions and make maximum use of it to help in the eradication of this nuisance from our society NATIONWIDE. Regards, Azam Siddiqui PS: Attached archive news report in this matter for reference. -- http://www.stopelephantpolo.com http://www.freewebs.com/azamsiddiqui
