More than a hundred thousand animals are sacrificed at the festival that occurs every five years in November. Millions of devotees throng the Gadhimai temple at the Indo-Nepal border during the festival. Animal rights activists have termed the sacrifices a 'shame on Nepal' and urged for immediate actions to stop the barbaric killing of animals.
