Deputy director, PP Singh said: " To nail down poaching activities, we have arms with deep search metal detectors (DSMD) to detect iron clamps and traps used by poachers. " Forest officials have identified 39 sensitive areas comprising ten in Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary area, 27 in Dudhwa National Park (DNP) and two in Sohelwa Tiger Reserve area where regular patrolling is needed. " Forest guards and other field staff would regularly patrol in the sensitive areas with DSMD, " said Singh. Traffic India (a wing of worldwide wildlife fund-WWF) representative Rahul Dutta informed TOI that poachers mostly use iron clamps to trap tigers, leopards and other wild species. He had came with his team at Dudhwa to impart training of how to use DSMDs to the DTR field staff. -- Thank you for your compassion !
