BADUNG: Zoos operating in Bali were reminded not to aim for financial profit

only, and to also commit themselves to conservation efforts.

 

" The zoos' management and staff, must play active roles in protecting and

conserving the plants and animals, " the Forestry Ministry's director general

for forest protection and nature conservation Darori said Saturday.

 

Darori gave a speech at the opening ceremony of the 11th National Meeting of

Indonesia Zoos Association in Seminyak.

 

Delegates from 34 zoos across the country participated in the gathering.

 

" Please bear in mind that the animals and plants in the zoos are the

property of the state, " he said.

 

" Therefore, the zoos should assist the state in conducting in-situ

conservation of the animals and plants in a serious manner. " - JP
