Birds taken off banquet menus

GUANGDONG - Officials in Leizhou have been forbidden from dining on birds at

banquets, the Yangcheng Evening News reports. Officials who violate the

regulation will be named and shamed.

 

Farmers tried over tiger stew

YUNNAN - Six farmers stood trial on Wednesday in Xishuangbanna for eating

tiger meat, the Chongqing Evening News reports. The report said two of the

farmers hunted and killed the tiger in February. They stewed the meat and

shared it with four friends the next day. The court was told the tiger was

potentially the last Indo-Chinese tiger in China.
