Guest guest
Thanks Dr. John, I finally managed to trace the emails from two of my earlier email id in boxes. It is so nice to have found them. ED, used to envy AAPN a lot compared to his own group which is what he wrote :-) Thanks to ED and to you Dr. John without which we would have never been able to pull up this BIG a campaign. May he rest in peace. Such a topic really needs a focused site. I was even attempted to copy all the posts on A.A.P.N. onto one Wordpad page to put it all together so I could make it more coherent. A facinating discussion! Such a erudite group; I wish my group were a little more that way. I have really attempted to spark interest in the topic on The Elephant Commentator, but for some reason, it hasn't caught on. It has always been a bit of a struggle to get the group to spread their wings to include world elephants as well as North American ones, and they really have come a long way, even sponsoring various elephants in other countries. But as I said, the topic is sort of an unknown, and I think they haven't been able to form a strong opinion yet, because the abuses haven't really been brought out to fire them up. However, I will continue to entice them to get more interested. I will post your new site...that should go a long way to help. Talk to you later. Best wishes, Ed *azam siddiqui <azamsiddiqui* wrote: My dear Edward, Finally we have something on the internet to talk and discuss about 'elepahnt polo': www.freewebs.com/elephantpolo I have stolen a few lines from your mail, " This site is created with a sole purpose to highlight 'elephant polo' which was till recently a subject that we have discussed superficially, but not in depth. Need your blessings and aiistance as always to make this website popular...also suggestions so that this tool can get better and better till the day, elephant polo finally gets abolished from the society globally. RE: Elephant Polo: Is it the right thing ?†*Edward Berry* (edwardberry) 09 October 2006 19:39PM azamsiddiqui Hi Azam, Elephant Polo is a subject that we have discussed superficially, but not in depth because we are not as informed about the " sport " as people in countries where these events take place. While the members know quite well how circus and zoo animals are treated, and keep up with everything we can learn, elephant polo is really an unknown for us. I have posted your query this morning on The Elephant Commentator and looking forward to opinions. Lately we have had some members join who are remarkably knowledgeable and who have also been to Sheldrick and Amboseli. I hope they give an opinion on this subject. Here is the tread I have started: http://groups.msn.com/TheElephantCommentator/general.msnw?action=get_message & mvi\ ew=1 & ID_Message=24440 Best wishes, Ed __________________ On Tue, Dec 1, 2009 at 8:13 PM, jwed <john wrote: > > > Dear Azam, > I think below is the post you mention. > Further searching of the archives can be done by visiting: > http://pets.aapn/messages > John, Moderator, AAPN. > > aapn <aapn%40>, Oct 12, 2006, > edpipeline " <edpipeline wrote: > > Dear and Azam, > According to a recent book, THE MEDICI GIRAFFE And Other Tales of Exotic > Animals and Power by Marina Belozerskaya,1. the New York Times reviewer, > William Grimes, noted that Pompey, an infamous Roman emperor, > > .... gathered hundreds of animals for a mass slaughter in the Circus > Maximus to restore his fading popularity with the Roman public.
