Guest guest
I have been reading and posting so much about this newly constructed 'Elephant Task Force' by Project Elephant, Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India in the last week. But please pardon me for not bringing to your notice one of the MOST BIZZARE and UGLY GUIDELINE for the task force members. The Ministry says that the 12 member 'Elephant Task Force' has been formed for the " PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION of the species " . But read further the official memorandum and you get a feeling that this document might have been drafted not in the interest of the Hopeless Gentle Giants but: FOR THE INTEREST OF HUMANS WHO USE ABUSE THESE ELEPHANTS FOR SOCIO-CULTURAL, RELIGIOUS PURPOSE etc AND MAY DO SO FOR EVER AND EVER .... Courtesy: Project Elephant. Do not believe me ! Read this for yourself: http://moef.nic.in/downloads/public-information/OM_%20Task%20Force.pdf " ... . For captive elephants: The committee shall. keeping in view the socio-cultural and religions sentiments attached to the same , recommend future strategies/ guidelines for suitable human use of elephants.... " . This weird 'GUIDELINE' to be kept in mind when the experts make recommendations to the Ministry for Captive Elephant Welfare. What an INSULT to all the 12 members chosen for the Task Force. They, who have sacrificed their lives to bring back the lost glory of these Gentle Giants are asked to keep in mind the following: 1. Long Live The Socio-Cultural: (The Circus Industry & the other Mafias of Elephant Entertainment, the Bollywood Film Industry , The Organisers of Elephant race, forced elephant begging, elephant tug of war, elephant dance, elephant in wedding, elephants in election campaigns, elephants carrying advertisement banners, elephant painting, elephant procession, elephant mock fight, elephant capture demonstration, elephant polo, elephant football, diplomatic gifting of elephants and other sensible human socio-cultural need. 2. Long Live The Religious Sentiments: Dear Gods in Chains, we humans respect our religions more than our GODS !
