Guest guest
Hello, I just wonder if some of you have noticed a news item published in Times of India(Chennai edition) on 26th February, 2010 that says Maoists of Bengal have given a call for dogs and stray animals to be killed in the wake of police action against them according to the Central government's announcement of 'Operation Green Hunt.' I am drawing everyone's attention to this since the ongoing violence is having repercussions for wild animals as well in several places and this matter is one of international importance because the current Indian situation is not unlike the rebellion in Madagascar and the wars that took place in Vietnam and Laos that involved sustained and systematic killing of wild animals. I have very often said that animal issues and human issues are interrelated and one cannot be an advocate for one at the expense of the other. This is a potent example where the two groups, animal rights and human rights, ought to make a honest attempt to talk reason face to face to resolve the man animal conflict since this is not a black and white situation. Your views would be welcome. I have a scanned copy of the article and am willing to share it. Thanks. Best regards,
