Guest guest
Jaipur's annual pre-Holi Elephant Festival will take place as usual on Holi eve(4.00-7.00pm) at Chaugan Stadium, Jaipur this year -- February 28, 2010 organised by the rajsathan tourist board. However, a number of new activities are being added to the festival program.(Why? Nobody knows ? Activities in the Elephant Festival 2010: Firstly there is a procession of the majestic elephants dressed with heavy metal ornaments and (thick clothing )velvets and their trunks, foreheads and feet are painted with floral motifs and trinkets are attached to them from tusk to tail. The guests are greeted and offered garlands by the elephants.(Is it really required??) An on-the-spot elephant painting competition and decorated elephant competition will join the traditional elephant procession, folk dances, and tug-of-war between elephants, locals and foreigners…why a tug of war? A spectacular grand finale is also planned. Five torch-carrying elephants will enter the stadium before the fireworks, and play Holi. (All elephants are scared of fire and training them to do so would be really too stressful.) *The finale has the dazzling display of fireworks.(all elephants are still in the ground and any foreign noises may startle the gentle giants) Tourists particularly love to mount these elephants and play Holi and watch them dance as dexterously as they can. I hope the board have taken the permission from AWBI… Regards Please let us know what more could be done Rohit gangwal 98285 00065 Team raksha jaipur http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/jaipur/New-facets-added-to-elephant-fest\ ival/articleshow/5617381.cms
