With due respect to all who have contributed for this draft to take shape,

including Shri Naresh Kadyan, I would like to let the masses know that this

would NOT have been possible without the valuable and extraordinary efforts

of Smt. Maneka Gandhi.

It is Smt. Gandhi who has been lobbying hard single handedly for the

following:

All the exemptions to exotic birds be removed.

Fish be a strong part of the Act.

Exemptions to peacock feather sale be removed.

Leg traps and their makers to be held liable under the act even if no animal has

been put in them.

There have been over 100 things like this put in the act by the expert

committee of Belinda, Valmik Thapar, Praveen kumar, Mahendra Vyas.

Not one has been agreed to by the minister.

There is a plan to remove all the schedules from the Act , leaving “categories”

and only putting the tiger in Category One and everything else has no like

punishment even if it is severely endangered.

It is Smt Gandhi who has fought hard to see that dog breeding rules, the pet

shop rules, the aquarium rules are pushed forward otherwise the act would have

been destroyed.

In fact Smt. Maneka Gandhi happens to be the first person to sign the

following online petition:

*Help the Indian 'Wildlife Protection Act'*

http://www.petitiononline.com/HelpWlpa/petition.html

The above act dwells on the possible fears if the suggestions

to amendment of the WLPA are not accepted.

Also it was Smt. Maneka who was the first to speak and highlight the

possible attempts to pull back these suggestions in the press and media.

See here:

Amendments make it 'worst wildlife act' in India: Maneka Gandhi

Fingers crossed we can only pray and wait for the final verdict to come out.

regards,

Azam

This is an important message and relevant to the topic at hand. I was made

to feel after my AAPN post that somehow Mr Naresh Kadyan had not been

credited for his work. I am somewhat at a loss to understand why this

feeling of credit should have arisen when all I had submitted was a news

item. He requested me to post his petitions and I did because I have no

problems with acknowledging anyone who has worked to achieve anything

significant. But let it be known very cogently that Mr Naresh Kadyan would

be well advised henceforth to air his views himself. I certainly do not

doubt his PR skills and I am not saying this in any pejorative sense. I do

hope nobody feels left out because of what I had posted especially because I

am aware of the additional perspective that has been appended and I have

dwelt upon them in the past in this forum.Thank you.

Aha' we have some misunderstanding here.

The reason why I wanted to put across the contributions of Smt. Gandhi on

this matter is because I have been in regular touch with her exchanging

mails and ideas regarding the various crisis, developing and discussing

strategies and the issue of " suggestions/ amendments to the WLPA " happens to

be the latest of issues that we were working upon.

Indeed this is a 'Great Victory for All' of us and I felt that her

contributions too should be acknowledged for and brought into the platform

of AAPN.

She is certainly not running in the lane for credits, I posted that message

on my own.

However the internet it seems is slowly getting corrupted with hate messages

and infighting within our family members (I am referring to petition site

groups created by some of us).

This only would bring a SHAME to the animal protection community as our

opponents would get kicks out of them.

Such should be avoided at every possible level.

My intention was not to rob anyone of his/ her credits, instead more people

to come forward and tell us the success stories about the other wonderful

people who they know have contributed to their capacity to network/ fight

for this outcome.

Elephant polo, where was Maneka Gandhi Azam?, that was faced by me on

grounds..............Peacock matter, please ask Ministry people and see

records......OIPA in India and PFA Haryana victory, Cheers!!!!!!!!!!. Let

Maneka explains her stand on Elephant polo first and why punishments in PCA

Act, 1960 not yet amended, any answer?, coming Pet shops rules again big

mistake with out teeth, where are the rules for fish aquarium?.......you see

my objections and my observations will be viewed by the concerned. Any way

no one can ignore OIPA in India / PFA Haryana work. Every body knows how

long she enjoyed power as minister but legislation for animals and their

implementation..........nothing with out teeth. You might be knowing that

your petition signed by me at 3, present minus 130 but support to OIPA both

petitions were successfully projected, official complaint was lodged / memo

with the office of the HE the President of India, any way I am explaining

you because you were my student during your Master Trainer of AWBI

course............all the best. I always tried to work hard to protect

animals and updates Maneka Gandhi as well because I know she is also a good

fighter and she brought me here to fight for animals and I have raised

peacock feathers matter along with camel / elephants protection in animal

transportation rule, 2001 before her but she ignored as an minister....

The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) wants us out to work as a cohesive

team and bury all the petty differences (see details below).

So I guess Kadyan ji you should sort out your difference as well with Smt.

Maneka Gandhi in the greater interest of animal welfare oriented work.

Differences are bound to happen, it happens within couples, families and

shall certainly happen to us.

If the grievances are serious they should be sorted out in the best.

Nobody (including me) has discredited you from the valued contributions you have

been doing for animals.

With regards to 'Elephant Polo', Ms Ambika Shukla, Trustee, People for

Animals India (ambikashukla) was one of the first to come out in

the press with a hard hitting article condemning this practice. If you read

the article carefully you will see that it has been inspired by none other

than Smt. Maneka Gandhi, the Chairperson and Founder of 'People for Animals

India'

See details here:

" Elephants are not suited for sports "

http://www.stopelephantpolo.com (search on 'expert comments' page)

I have all the reasons to believe that Smt. Gandhi is certainly NOT ON THE

SIDE OF THE ELEPHANT POLO ORGANIZERS/ PLAYERS/ BENEFITERS.

Warm regards,

Azam

*MINUTES OF THE 113TH EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE ANIMAL*

*WELFARE BOARD OF INDIA HELD AT CHENNAI*

*ON 7th JANUARY, 2010.*

Progress of action taken on the minutes of the 112th Executive

Committee Meeting of the Animal Welfare Board of India held on

29th December, 2009 at New Delhi.

Item No.3: Special Agenda sent from Animal Welfare Division, New Delhi

*1. Issues arising from RTI applications, letter dated 23-12-2009*

The genesis of RTI is due to the differences between a Member & Co-opted

Member from Haryana. The Executive Committee directed them to work as a

cohesive team and bury their petty differences. In case of differences of

opinions, the same shall be brought to the notice of Executive Committee. In

future all inspections for Haryana AWOs will be carried by Government

Organizations.
