How do you stay organized? * * * * * there are too many recipes in my world too. i have them everywhere, some in notebooks where i make hand written notes, come on the computer in category files, tough to make notes but i do use them from the file as well as printing them out. the ones i try i want to print out for the notebooks. the notebooks i use are the larger ones but i do manage to keep things in order, maybe i don't have as many as i thought after all if i can keep them organized. i started with 1 - 3 " notebook and tab sheets now i have several of the large notebooks, still keep things separate with the tabs. recipes are by name, in alphabet order. take care, looking forward to learning what others do, there might be a better way of doing things. hm **************It's only a deal if it's where you want to go. Guest guest
I store them here (I submit them) and use the search function to retrieve them. Then sometimes I email them to myself (in case the site goes down). Before joining this group I wrote them down in a document called my favorite recipes, but it did get rather large so I like the search function here better, it is very fast. Guest guest
I save all the emails with recipies I am interested in making in a computer file. When I make the recipe I print out the recipe and keep it on my desktop. If I did not like it or hubby did not, I delete it and throw away the paper recipe I printed. If I like it, I put it in a three ring binder with my keepers. Katie --- On Wed, 8/27/08, electrokittie <electrokittie wrote: electrokittie <electrokittie How do you store your recipes? Guest guest
Hi, I try to use software called RecipeCenter but I'm so far behind in putting recipes in there it is almost worthless (something like my database of compact discs, 1400 down, another 8000 or so to go ;<) ) Fortunately Eudora mail tool has a great search function so I can type in cabbage and get every email with it and every email with a recipe from vegetarian group (and various and sundry other vegetarian ) is saved in my Eudora mailboxes. Admittedly it takes a little while to take a quick peak through them all. Potato salad is fun. Let's see how many 100's of email recipes do I have to look through here. Guest guest
I keep a file in my mail titled " veggie " . Then, when I am looking for a recipe, I can type in an ingredient or part of the title and it will pull them up for me. Sometimes I print them out and 3-hole punch them, put them in a binder. Guest guest
I drag and drop to a word document program and save to a recipe folder. How do you store your recipes? .
Guest guest
When I see a recipe I want to try, I cut and paste and store in my Notebook under different catagories. Then when I want to try something out I will print it out. If I like it, it is supposed to go in my 3-ring binder, but unfortunately a lot of times it ends up just sitting on top of it waiting to be filed. It does get done eventually. Guest guest
I have made my own three ring binder cookbooks. I have one for crock-pot recipes, one for desserts, and one for my vegetarian recipes. I really enjoy doing this. I have decorated the books and the title page for cookies, cakes, ect. Guest guest
I do what Mondy does, as soon as I make something and it's a keeper I post my recipe to the group if I have time or if it's a groups recipe I place it in my binder. I have a binder for desserts and one for main dishes and one for crowd pleasers so I can use those during the holidays or for a party or a take a long. On the outside of my cookbooks I have a large post-it-note with recipes I want to try in the future. I do have a huge stack of recipes from the group I want to try asap but asap doesn't get here as often as I'd like. LOL Donna I'm the nightwatchman I am security. Guest guest
I have two systems: Before computers--I had always had a system of clipping potential recipies to try. I organized that file just like a cookbook: appetizers, cakes, cookies, main dishes, etc. Once I try the recipe and decide it worth keeping, I paste it into one of my 5 three-ring binders that are organized like a cookbook. Everything is categorized by the main ingredient and in alphabetical order. If I take a recipe from one of my many cookbooks, I either photocopy the recipe or hand write and put it into one of the binders. I always write on the recipe where it came from including the page number and name of the cookbook. After computer systems--I simply save them in my folders organized like a cookbook--main dishes, cookies, vegetables, muffins, etc. After I try them and decide they are worth keeping, I print them out and put them in one of the binders. Call me compulsive--I was an analyst for 15 years so organizing is part of my personality now. Kathleen I print them and put them in a binder, but it's bursting!!
