hi to all...

i've been veggie since may 5, 1981...that puts me into my 27th

year...since i started, the support for a meat-free lifestyle has

progressed so fast...well, at least in most parts of the

country/usa...i remember some of my early homemade veggie burgers

were hardly fit for human consumption...and only my best friends

would eat a whole one without grimacing ...today, i'm seeing so many

new people joining the ranks because the food is so good...especially

if you cook it yourself...oh, when it comes to burgers, i now eat boca...

i am mostly vegan that is unless i have to eat in a restaurant...then

i allow dairy and eggs...i'm adamant about a meatless diet but not so

much about some animal products in my diet, like i just

mentioned...still, no leather though...it's so hard to avoid all

animal products since they are ubiquitous in the western world's

environment, even in our automobiles...and much more...

my reasoning for going veggie was primarily for spiritual

reasons...basically that i wanted to survive without imposing

violence on any other creature...since then, i've discovered a

massive health benefit for doing it...however, i'm not much of an

advocate for any of these points of view...and i'm only mentioning

this info here from an FYI point of view...

take care,

david

That was my sole reason too...the health benefits are an added bonus.? Twenty

years ago I picked up a copy of Diet For A New America and after reading it I

said I just can't continue talking out of both sides of my mouth...professing

love for animals yet continuing to eat them...just didn't sit well with me.?

I've never looked back.

Welcome to the group!

that was a big issue for me as well...not telling myself the truth

about myself and my mission on the planet...just getting that

straight was a defining moment in my life...and i'm with

you...looking back was never an option...

i loved that book as well...when i met john, i thanked him for

writing the book and praised him for his courage...

I sent my copy to a member last year. I see it all the time in the thrift

shops. See if the library has it. You can also get a used copy from Amazon.com

or half.com for a very low price.
