Hi David,

Welcome into the group.

I know what you mean about starting vegetarianism back in the early 80's

That's when I started, I taught myself how to cook out of the Hare Krishna

cookbook they gave me.LOL  Wasn't easy finding some of those ingredients and I'm

not a huge fan of east Indian food. Some of those products in the Mrs Gooch

health food store were tasteless, we are talking about cardboard.

You will find wonderful recipes in our recipe files and more posted in the group

each day.

here's the link to our files for easy access:

I'm the nightwatchman

I am security. I'm the nightwatchman

How safe do you want to be?

I sit around at night, listen to the radio

If I get bored I may have a little smoke

hi to all...

i've been veggie since may 5, 1981...that puts me into my 27th

year...since i started, the support for a meat-free lifestyle has

progressed so fast...well, at least in most parts of the

country/usa. ..i remember some of my early homemade veggie burgers

were hardly fit for human consumption. ..and only my best friends

would eat a whole one without grimacing ...today, i'm seeing so many

new people joining the ranks because the food is so good...especially

if you cook it yourself...oh, when it comes to burgers, i now eat boca...

i am mostly vegan that is unless i have to eat in a restaurant.. .then

i allow dairy and eggs...i'm adamant about a meatless diet but not so

much about some animal products in my diet, like i just

mentioned... still, no leather though...it' s so hard to avoid all

animal products since they are ubiquitous in the western world's

environment, even in our automobiles. ..and much more...

my reasoning for going veggie was primarily for spiritual

reasons...basically that i wanted to survive without imposing

violence on any other creature...since then, i've discovered a

massive health benefit for doing it...however, i'm not much of an

advocate for any of these points of view...and i'm only mentioning

this info here from an FYI point of view...

take care,

david

i followed the link you provided...i'm impressed with the variety and

details of the recipes i looked at...

the source of veggie recipes is so very diverse...i may have used

that HK cookbook you started with...back then i read everything i

could get my hands on...today, it's almost impossible to read all the

veggie books on the shelf...
