Guest guest
Hi everyone, All this talk about family got me thinking. I realized that I am one of those moms who found the courage to become vegetarian through my daughter's choice. About two years ago, my teenager announced her decision to become vegetarian. It wasn't a big surprise, she pretty much always hated meat. I'd dabbled in vegetarianism at the same age (except the only veggie food they had in the early 80s were spaghettios!), so I was cool with it. For the next year, I prepared her vegetarian meals-- including Thanksgiving. Then, in February of this year, we had a big meat recall here in Los Angeles, and I made the " mistake " of reading what they did to the animals. I will never get that mental image out of my mind, and became a vegetarian that day. I honestly believe that it was my daughter's inspiration. I spent a year preparing and eating yummy vegetarian foods for her and I realized that it is an easy lifestyle to maintain. So, I guess I am saying that for every brother in law that puts a rib bone on your plate, and every uncle that splashes gravy on your food, there is a mother who respects her child's choices enough to follow in her footsteps! If you decide to waste this day, that’s the same as deciding to waste your life because your life is happening right now.
