We had an inservice at work today and usually I 'work around' the

provided menu but since I turned the Big 47 ( today!) I decided to

request that a vegan option be put aside for me. Well, I had the most

delicious salad waiting for me with a note from the chef " me too'

It was roasted peppers, onion and new potatoes on a bed of mixed field

greens.

Nice lunch, nice day

Congratulations on your birthday and that they gave you such a delicious option.

I thought the note from the chef was special and it sure sounds like the chef

enjoyed making it for you. I'd request it every time. Why not? LOL

I bet if you use that chef, from now on there will be something handcrafted for

you :)

How wonderful to have that support, and to know that the creator is aware of the

variety of foods that you CAN eat, instead of wondering about all the things you

can't eat. Happy b-day! :)

Sorry, but I just have to ask...where in the world do you work that not only

provides lunch during the inservice, but has a CHEF preparing it?

Sounds very 'posh' to me! LOL

Color me green w/ envy :)

Happy Belated Birthday to you!

I work in a Mental Health Clinic. The lunch is offered by a drug

company so they have an upscale restaurant cater it. I'm sure it is

to catch the Doctor's attention....but we Nurses attend as well:)

That is very interesting. I have recently read many comments and

controveries surrounding the pharmaceutical industry wining and

dining medical staff, especially physicians. I am glad that the chef

was responsive to a vegetarian' needs.

Recently, I have discovered that the more upscale a restaurant is,

the more responsive the staff is to vegetarian requests. Recently, I

was out of town in a small, but very nice Italian restaurant in

Brookings, Oregon. Although I have been a vegetarian of 30+ years,

along with a diagnosis of lyme disease, I discovered that I have a

gluten allergy. This restaurant was able to make me a wonderful

vegetarian gluten free meal--I just read the menu and figured out

what they would have on hand and asked for it--voila, it appeared.
