Shredding Dried Coconut?

I don't mean to be a pest, but never got an answer to my question, so

am hoping that it just never went through. (GMail's only fault is

that you don't get copies of your own messages.)

I have one of those Cuisinart Mini Prep Plus Processors -- which is

sort of a very tiny food processor with only the steel blade.

I have trouble finding unsweetened dried coconut around here, so

ordered some online. It comes as " coconut chips " rather than shredded.

Since the booklet cites chocolate, peppercorns, and seeds as

appropriate for this processor, does anyone think that there would be

a problem if I used the Mini Prep to shred dried coconut chips?

Thank you very much.

I cannot see why not - but would it be worth contacting them to be on the safe

side?

I'm mute, so that really isn't an option for me. But thank you VERY

much for trying to help.

I know what you mean about how hard it is to find unsweetened streded coconut.

I usually stock up when I'm at the Village Market http://vm.southern.edu/ in

Collegedale, TN across the street from Southern Adventist University or at the

store at the Natural Health Food store at

http://www.wildwoodhealth.org/site/c.ddKKISNmEkG/b.4089841/ in Wildwood, Ga

I store it in my freezer. I

I don't know if they have an online store or not.

I would definitely try shredding the Coconut Chips(I love to munch on those) in

your food processor, but I would only pulse it, checking it every couple of

seconds, or you'll have powder very quickly.

In my entire life, I have never met a Seventh Day Adventist, and am

nowhere near their churches or shops. Believe me, I wish I were. I

have to order their products from the Mail Order Catalog online. But

I just checked, and they carry shredded coconut, which is probably

unsweetened, but I'll have to check the printed catalog. (The

website doesn't say.)

That will help in the future, but I really need shredded coconut now,

so will try pulsing it.

I can't thank you enough!

You're very welcome.

We, Seventh Day Adventist, are everywhere. There are SDA churchs in most towns

and multiple ones in cities. We operate the largest protestant health care

system/hospitals and

parochial

school system(K - University) in the world.

Since you're familiar with the coconut chips, do you think I could use

them as they are (without shredding) in those graham cracker crumbs -

chocolate chip - butterscotch chip - shredded coconut - sweetened

condensed milk bars known as Layer Bars, Hello Dolly Bars, Magic

Cookie Bars, etc.? Do you think the coconut chips would be as good

there as shredded coconut?

Thank you VERY much!

I think they would be very good in them, as is, but making them a little smaller

in your food processer would be nice too.
