Guest guest
I couldn't agree more! I have put it this way, to my family. If I'm at a party, I might have a bite (or piece) of some birthday cake that is made with dairy. Even though I consider myself vegan, I'm not gonna go nutsy crazy about that. But, there is no way I'll take a bite of somebody's hamburger. To me, they are completely different! Vive la difference!! Guest guest
What's in a label anyway, status or maybe a high or low price? If the label falls off a bottle of wine it's just a bottle of wine, no different from the bottle on the next shelf, except for the color glass used in the bottle or the grape fermented inside. I'm probably more vegan than many vegans within this group but I will always call myself a vegetarian. Non-veggies relate to the word a little easier. I convert no one! Offer them your good food and they come around. Donna The seed is in bloom, will it meet an early doom or survive in a tranquil sea? Guest guest
How true. I'm not even a vegetarian but I really love this group and to participate with the vegetarian recipes I do cook. I also use plenty of recipes from your files. Karla , Donnalilacflower <thelilacflower wrote: > > What's in a label anyway, status or maybe a high or low price? Guest guest
Absolutely. I admire vegans, and I try to be " as vegan as possible " myself, which equals about 85-90% of the time. My wife and sons are not vegetarians - let alone vegans - but they are tolerant and generally supportive of my choice. I reward them by taking them to " normal " restaurants. On these occasions it is sufficient to be " merely " vegetarian, by ordering a cheesy appetizer of some sort, or assembling a veggie meal a la carte. Being successful in my journey will mean nothing if my loved ones see me as such a freakazoid that they can longer relate to me. Guest guest
It takes a little bit of work and acceptance but blended families, friendhips, holiday entertaining, dating and everything else works if you want it to. Look for a glass casserole dish with a divider in the center. I have a few of them. They are perfect for blended households. You can bake your meal in one side and bake for your family on the other side of the casserole dish. Guest guest
I also agree, I don't eat eggs, I don't cook with eggs however I will eat a cake or pancakes that have been made at a restaurant or bakery or someone's home. I also would never take a bite of someone's hamburger or any type of meat or seafood. I also have no interest in converting anyone to my way of eating as this is my choice.
