Guest guest
Hi Denise, Nice to see another Alabamian here. I'm from here also. Glad you joined our wonderful group. We've got some good choices around our state. I'm one of the moderators and we want to welcome you. Like Marsha mentioned below, we have some incredible tried and true recipe files, under Files on our home page. They are all organized into different catagories, with many subfolders with each catagory. You'll be in heaven. Guest guest
Hi Judy, Where in Alabama are you located? I am in Salem, near Auburn. I have to go to Columbus, GA to get most of my ingredients form a vegetarian restaurant/store. A kroger recently opened in Opelika which has a great selection also. I like the smaller store because you can buy the amount you want form bins. I have been looking at the recipe files and am anxious to start cooking! --- On Sat, 9/20/08, wwjd <jtwigg wrote: wwjd <jtwigg Re: Hi Denise Re: New Here Saturday, September 20, 2008, 4:23 PM Hi Denise, Nice to see another Alabamian here. Guest guest
I'm in southern Alabama, halfway between Montgomery and Mobile(on the gulf coast). Do you go to the Country life store over near Columbus near Euchee Pines? I understand it has a wonderful restaurant and health food store. I find that Bruno's larger stores and health food stores have good selections of vegetarian products. I used to live in Atlanta, and we had Krogers there. It had some good vegetarian products, but the Adventist Book Center had the best selection of canned, dried, refrigerated and frozen health food products there. We have one also in Montgomery. I love the Dekalb Farmers Market in Atlanta. Excellent products. I buy canned Worthington meat substitutes, hemp seeds, etc.. also online from Amazon.com with, excellent prices, no sales tax or shipping. I buy several cases of the Worthington/Loma Linda products each year at our SDA campmeeting, where we have very good prices. We''ve visited Auburn University Vet school, over in your area. One of my daughter worked with a Vet that was an alumni of there, and was a huge fun of there. LOL I guess you know how big football here is to many. Not us though. Our family prefers to play sports instead of be spectators. Ok, I'm off to our afternoon church service. Guest guest
I go a couple of times a year to Orange Beach (my friend has a house for us to use). We usually go I-65 all the way, but the last time I went, my GPS sent me on a different route through several small towns. I enjoyed the scenery much more! Yes, I go to Country Life!! I just love that place. My son goes to school in Columbus, so I often have lunch there. Last Sunday, I attended a lunch box cooking class. They are so friendly and helpful. Ihope to attend the holiday cooking class in November. When I go to Montgomery, I stop at the Fresh Market. Where in Montgomery is the Adventist Book Center? I would make a special trip for that. My husband is a phyicist in Auburn and sometimes works on the x-ray machines at the vet school. You are so right about the crazy Auburn fans! He went to Florida, but doesn't tell anyone I hope you enjoy your service! --- On Sat, 9/20/08, wwjd <jtwigg wrote: wwjd <jtwigg Re: Hi Denise Re: New Here Saturday, September 20, 2008, 5:50 PM I'm in southern Alabama, halfway between Montgomery and Mobile(on the gulf coast). Guest guest
Those Vegetarian Country Life Restaurant and Bakery/health food store cooking classes that they offer sounds wonderful. Here is the website in case someone happens to live close by or is going to be traveling thru the Columbus, Ga area. http://www.ucheepines.org/index.php?p=countrylife Oh your way to Orange Beach, you would enjoy stopping at The Beans Store, a vegetarian health food store in Atmore, Al. A friend of mine owns and operates it. She is a very dear lady and has a nice selection of items. You take Exit 57 and go south about 5 mile and it is on the right, right at a traffic light. I thought you might enjoy picking up some things for your meals while you are in Orange Beach. We go several times a year to Gulf Shores, near Orange Beach. The Montgomery, Al ABC - Adventist Book Center and Health food store is on Atlanta Highway. To get to it from your direction, take I 85 to Montgomery and take exit 6. Go north, making a right. Go less than a mile and you'll see the Atlanta Hwy. exit. Take that exit. Make a right at the traffic light onto Atlanta Hwy. Go about 3 miles at the most and you'll see a Walmart on your left and the Gulf States Conference of Seventh Day Adventist on your right.. Turn right and go around to the back of the building. Go thru the entrance door of that side of the building and it will be on your right. There is also a side entrance into the store on the side of the building where you turn right. Take a cooler so you can pick up some frozen and refrigerated items. Enjoy and tell Linda hello from Judy. - Denise Faircloth Saturday, September 20, 2008 1:12 PM Re: Hi Denise Re: New Here I go a couple of times a year to Orange Beach (my friend has a house for us to use).
