It is like a maize inside the nuts with hardly any nut meat. Now this is the nut that is hardly worth the work. I've got a bunch of hickory trees in my yard and woods. One is near my drive way and is a real nusiance, to keep cleaned up. LOL when you drive over them, it sounds like fireworks going off. Hickory nut meat has a good flavor though. One of my hickory trees died a couple of years ago and my neighbor that has a BBQ place, came and wanted to cut it down to use to smoke his ____ with.
