Guest guest
Cookbook reviews are based on making the actual recipes or how the book is presented? I don't care for this cookbook, I give it 3 stars. It's so basic. It's a good cookbook for someone with little cooking knowledge or someone not knowing what to do with certain grains and veggies. The recipes are so simple you definately have to use your herbs, spices and imagination to get a tasty dish. Put 2 cups of water in pan add wheatberries let cook until done and eat type recipes in there. I have been using cookbooks since age 12 and I probably have over 300 vegetarian cookbooks, this doesn't include my 100 or more non-vegetarian cookbooks I adapt recipes from. I should make a list of all my favors I use over and over again. Donna The seed is in bloom, will it meet an early doom or survive in a tranquil sea? Does it face an early end, will it find a real friend, should it be called humanity? Will creation of man bring death by his hand or will life be his destiny? It's called How to Cook EVERYTHING Vegetarian by Mark Bittman. I have been a gourmet cook for 20 years. But when I became a vegetarian, I needed to relearn a few things. This is a huge book (995 pages with the index). What I love about this is that it is a book about cooking, not just about vegetarian cooking. If you are new to vegetarianism, or just want to become a better chef, head on over to your local bookstore and check this one out. It's amazing. (PS: I am a book reviewer for a living, so I have seen my share of cookbooks!!)
Guest guest
I tend to agree, this cookbook is about 10 lbs and it's a whole lotta book about little nothing new except for instructions on how to cook out of the ordinary vegetables, fruits, beans and grains and even those recipes are very basic. I spent the full $35 on this cookbook. I placed it on my closet shelf and use recipes from this group or my old favorite cookbooks. Guest guest
My eyes bugged out when I ran across this cookbook at Barnes and Noble but as I sat and drank coffee and read some of the recipes I decided not to buy it. Not a bad cookbook but kind of blah and wasn't worth dishing out the price they were asking, even with 10% off.
