Donna The Best Chip Cookies 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar 1 cup butter or marg. room temp. (butter makes them better) 1 large egg 1 teaspoon vanilla 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup coarsely chopped nuts (optional) 1 package (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips (2 cups) *Note - if you want to eat some of the chips then use 1-3/4 cups Heat oven to 375ºF. Mix sugars, butter and egg in large bowl with mixer until blended. In a small bowl mix dry ingredients together. Mix dry ingredients into batter (dough will be stiff). With a wooden spoon stir in chocolate chips and nuts (is using). Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until very light brown (centers will be soft). Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
